Volunteers of America Northern Rockies will hold their annual Empty Bowl Event, Thursday, March 12, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the Sheridan County YMCA, 417 N. Jefferson St.
"All funds raised at Empty Bowl go directly to the Sheridan Community Homeless Shelter. With the Shelter operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, no other program relies on community support as much as the Shelter does," said Claude Alley, Director of Homeless Services for Volunteers of America Northern Rockies.
"The evening will be a wonderful way to not only raise money, but raise awareness for the homeless in our community," said Angela Lockard, VOANR Special Events and Outreach Coordinator. "We will have a silent auction, live music by Canary Joe, face painting, and games for kids while enjoying gourmet soups and taking home handcrafted bowls made by community members."
“This event allows guests to enjoy a 'simple' dinner to emulate meals one might have at a soup kitchen. The handcrafted bowls are taken home to serve as a reminder about homelessness throughout the year,” Lockard explained.
Tickets for the event are available at the door with costs of $25 for families, $10 for adults, and $5 for kids; children five and under are free.
