Homeless Services

Opening our hearts to all

The Sheridan Community Shelter is located on the grounds of the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center, and has been providing service to homeless individuals since 1998. The building can accommodate up to 30 individuals per night, with separate men’s, women’s and family accommodations.

The Shelter works on the basic premise of offering a hand up to those who need it most rather than a hand out. It relies heavily on community donations for almost half of its funding. Without this level of community support the Shelter just could not operate and over 175 people a year would find themselves living on the streets of Sheridan.

People find themselves at the Shelter for many different reasons, but for each individual one thing rings true. There is nowhere else to turn.

The Shelter relies on state and federal departments such as the following: Department of Veteran Affairs, Sheridan County Commissioners, Wyoming Department of Community Services, the City of Sheridan, and Wyoming Department of Health & Human Services.
