Volunteers of America Northern Rockies operates Accountability, Change, and Education Program (A.C.E.™), the only privatized school suspension program in the State of Wyoming. Volunteers of America Northern Rockies collaborated with Sheridan County School District #2 to create a program where students suspended from school would go to the A.C.E.™ program instead of going home. The program currently provides services to students in grades K-12 and works to reintegrate students successfully back into school.
A.C.E.™ focuses on behavioral and academic issues and allows students the opportunity to complete homework before returning to school. Each student works through a structured program designed to address the behaviors that resulted in the suspension. Students also participate in community service and physical fitness. To complete the program successfully, students must take accountability of their negative behaviors and create a re-entry plan to facilitate an effective transition back to school.
