Life House Groundbreaking (Sheridan, WY)
July 8, 2011 (Sheridan, WY)
Last Friday, Volunteers of America (VOA) celebrated the groundbreaking for the men’s treatment center, The Life House. This new 6,000 square foot facility is the most important campaign to-date in the 25 years VOA has been in this region. The state of the art building replaces the current 100 year old hospital that the men now reside. VOA is excited to be able to serve the men in a more conducive and holistic environment.
In attendance, were Volunteers of America Northern Rockies board members, major donors (the Watt Foundation and the Daniel’s Fund), clients from the Life House, public officials, County Commissioner, Volunteers of America staff, and other members from the community.
Mark Robertson, Director of The Life House, opened the ceremony with an invocation. Volunteers of America President & CEO, Jeff Holsinger greeted guests and spoke about the new facility as a milestone for the organization and the importance it will be for the clients who reside in it. Newly appointed board chair, Hillary Summers, “thanked the staff, community and other board members for helping bring a new outlook of sobriety to the men of The Life House.”
Mr. Holsinger thanked the major donors starting with the Ky Dixon, Board Chair for the Watt Foundation for the $500,000.00 donation, Mr. Forrest Mars for his $500,000.00 donation, and Peter Droege, VP of Communications, Daniels Fund for their $500,000.00 contribution.
During the groundbreaking, an anonymous check for $100,000.00 was presented to The Life House, leaving $650,000.00 left to raise.
